As concerns areincreasing over the aunthenticity of the 2023 KCPE results, some members of parliament have called for a remarking of the examination to ensure the results are valid and authentic.
The legislators led by Julius Melly of Tinderet and Timothy Kipchumba of Marakwet West are also planning to summon the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to answer questins being raised by the concerned and affected Kenyans. They term this a high level of incompetence by the exams body and the ministry at large.
“The exam was not fair and credible. How is it possible for students in the same school to score same marks, some got marks for papers they did not take. We, the committee for education will conduct investigations. Those found culpable of mismanaging KCPE must go home,” Toroitich said on Sunday during a church service in Kapsowar.
Julius Melly who is the chairperson of the National Assembly Education Committee, on his part argued that the results released by KNEC could not be credible.
“When you see students scoring the same marks, there is a problem. And it has to be either the person who marked the papers, or the exam supervision exercise,” he said.
Kenya National Examination Council, KNEC, had acknowledged that indeed there were some errors reported to them especially on the results received via the short code sms.
